Facebook

Well now that the UAE TRA has definitely blocked Orkut it seems that Facebook is safe for the moment. Most people in Dubai are slowly shifting to Facebook to keep in touch with those long lost buddies.

But off late I have been seeing some unwanted activity on Facebook that could ultimately lead to the blocking of this networking site as well. Some groups, and interest circles, aimed at the taboo topic in this part of the world, SEX. Although, of course it is the most sold commodity in Dubai.

Its been a part and parcel of my last month or so, I am totally getting addicted to the fact that I can get in and throw some food at people or send someone drinks. Add to that things like graffiti, and X Me just add to the fun of being there. The Poke i think is a signature of Facebook and will always be.

All in all, it seems like Orkut on steroids I should say. In anyway i hope the authorities don't take too much offence of the groups and ban Facebook also.
